ANC wins six of nine seats in poll

THE ANC has won six of nine municipal by-elections, while the DA won the remainder, the Independent Electoral Commission said yesterday.

THE ANC has won six of nine municipal by-elections, while the DA won the remainder, the Independent Electoral Commission said yesterday.

The by-elections were held on Wednesday, in Eastern Cape, Free State and Gauteng.

The ANC and the DA retained their seats in the Eastern Cape.

The ANC retained two seats in the Free State and won three while the DA retained one ward in the Free State.

The DA retained its ward in Gauteng by an increased majority.

The IEC said voter turnout for the polls ranged between 17,84percent and 49,74percent. - Sapa
