LONDON - Egypt international Mido has yet to return to training with relegated Middlesbrough, two days after the squad met to begin preparations for what they hope will be a promotion campaign, media reports said yesterday.

Fellow striker Afonso Alves is back in training after recovering from injury.

Middlesbrough are investigating the late shows.

Some players, including Turkey's Tuncay Sanli, were given an extra few days break owing to commitments at the end of last season.

A club spokesperson said "a number of players" were missing.

Coach Gareth Southgate is said to be ready to sell Mido, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Wigan. - AFP
