Is Gold Finger going home?

FORMER Mamelodi Sundowns spokesperson Alex "Gold Finger" Shakoane might be returning to Chloorkop after a long absence from the team.

FORMER Mamelodi Sundowns spokesperson Alex "Gold Finger" Shakoane might be returning to Chloorkop after a long absence from the team.

The suave Shakoane parted company with the Brazilians in November last year under a cloud. He was involved in a court case after an alleged indecent assault on the daughter of one of his colleagues. He was acquitted of the charge.

Shakoane vehemently refused to shed light on his possible reunification with Sundowns when Sowetan contacted him yesterday.

Downs are without a communications manager after the team parted company with Mahlatse Mphahlele recently.

Attempts to get comment from team manager Harris Chueu yesterday to clarify the matter drew a blank.

But a source close to the Brazilians insisted that Shakoane was returning to Chloorkop.

"We are expecting Sundowns management to make a public announcement in this regard," said the source, who did not wish to be identified.

Added the source: "Alex belongs to Sundowns and many Sundowns supporters were disappointed when he was shown the door by the president (Patrice Motsepe).

"The latest development will excite many supporters."

It is also understood that disgruntled supporters have been pestering Motsepe to bring Shakoane back since he let him go.

The recent incident took place at Moretele Park in Mamelodi where a group of supporters called for the resignation of Mphahlele.
