Though Zulu Boy, pictured, is not necessarily a poet but a musician, organisers say he will be the closing artist in the festival because his music is poetic.
"His music is poetry driven, that's why we invited him," says organiser Xolani Majozi.
Now in its second year, the annual event is a platform for marginalised poets to showcase their talent.
One of its main objectives is to drum up support for poetry and at the same time unearth new talent.
"It's very rare to hear somebody saying I am going to spend a day in poetry at such and such a place," Majozi says. "Poetry does not have a mass following and lags behind in the art industry.
"It is even difficult to organise more events because there is insufficient support and not enough acts to carry it. Only when we discover more talent will we see that happening."
He says though poets are allowed to recite in any language, they are encouraged to perform in their mother tongue.
The event is still limited to KwaZulu-Natal but the long-term goal is to roll it out to other provinces.
Admission is R20.
