LESEDI FM station manager Pula Pula Mothibi is back at the helm.

Mothibi was suspended with programmes manager Mohlalefi "Wire" Khoali in 2007 by the SABC.

This was after former presenter Thuso Motaung, his wife Mamontha and a business associate were arrested in 2006 for allegedly defrauding the SABC of R32million worth of airtime.

The trio were consequently acquitted by the Johannesburg commercial crimes court last year.

Khoali, who is still on suspension, is yet to know his fate.

The SABC had at the time accused Mothibi of "failing to protect the station's interests and properly executing his duties".

This referred to an agreement between Lesedi FM and JR Business Analyst and Developers pertaining to the marketing and advertising of Power Mix on the station.

Mothibi and Khoali were the Motaungs witnesses in the court case.

Sources at the station say Mothibi's disciplinary hearing never took place.

"He had been on suspension and was never called in to answer. He has eventually been given his job back," one source said.

Mamontha Motaung returned to work at Lesedi FM in December last year, though she was still to know the outcome of her disciplinary hearing.

Sources said Mosoaladi Mohapi, who had been an acting station manager for more than a year, was told to "hand over everything" and vacate the manager's position.

He was told he would report to Motaung, who is the station's executive producer of programmes.

Mohapi referred all enquiries to the broadcaster's spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago.

Sowetan has contacted Kganyago on numerous occasions through e-mails and phone calls for a comment, but to no avail.

He promised to get a colleague to comment because he was in Cape Town attending the communication committee's hearing on the problems at the SABC.

But no response had been forthcoming for the past few days.
