Afro-pop Mina Nawe fallsapart

SUCCESSFUL Afro-pop group Mina Nawe have disintegrated because of a number of problems.

SUCCESSFUL Afro-pop group Mina Nawe have disintegrated because of a number of problems.

Mina Nawe manager Isaac Mafia has confirmed that the group, whose style fans have likened to that of Malaika and Mafikizolo, are no longer together.

Mafia said the person who caused the problems within the group, leading to its demise, was Carlo aka Nathi.

"We hear that he has formed a new group called Amavandal with his friends. The group is happy that he finally left," Mafia said.

A source told Sowetan that Nathi's behaviour became increasingly erratic as he would pitch up late or not come at all for rehearsals without any explanation.

Mazet, who is also a member of the group, confirmed that Carlo has left the group but that they plan to carry on without him.

Carlo could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Mina Nawe burst on to the local scene a few years ago, and instantly hooked a music market that was just hungry for Afro-pop sounds.
