"We are well on track to make it a reality," Drogba said.

His West African country tops Group E of the African qualifiers.

Drogba was in the country as a guest of the Local Organising Committee during the Confederations Cup, the appetiser to the World Cup.

Ivory Coast, who qualified for their first World Cup finals in Germany in 2006, have accumulated all the nine points from their three opening matches.

They are the only country that still has to lose a match in the African qualifiers and Drogba reckons they will remain on top of the log until the end of the campaign.

"South Africa is a great country and as an African I'm proud that the World Cup is finally coming to our continent for the first time," Drogba said.

"It will be a great World Cup, we need to show the world that as Africans we can also deliver on a successful tournament if given the chance to host.

"Our [Ivory Coast's] plan is to go all the way in the qualifiers with a good record and play in the final here in South Africa."

Besides Drogba, the Elephants have other great players in Salomon Kalou, Kolo Toure, Aruna Dindane and Emmanuel Eboue.

Chelsea's golden striker watched the African Youth Soccer Cup at Jeppe Boys High School in Johannesburg on Saturday.

It was organised by the African Diaspora Forum (ADF), a non-profit organisation representing African migrant communities living in South Africa.

Twenty-two African countries are represented on the ADF.

They include Angola, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Malawi, Morocco, Mozambique and Nigeria.

The organisation is fighting xenophobia, promoting an integrated society, investing in the youth and education as well as creating awareness of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
