Few big moves for shy Celtic

BLOEMFONTEIN Celtic have not been very busy in the transfer market.

BLOEMFONTEIN Celtic have not been very busy in the transfer market.

Though they reunited with defender Gary Goldstone from Maritzburg United and midfielder Cecil Oerson from Moroka Swallows, there have not been much further signs of the quality players they promised after the team escaped relegation by a whisker last season.

This is a worry, especially considering the amount of time it will take new playersto adapt to coach Owen da Gama's training methods and to bond with the old players.

Instead, Phunya Sele Sele have resorted to signing three players from National First Division and Vodacom Promotion League teams.

They are left-back Koloko Mokhethi from African Warriors, striker Bongani Ndulula from Aliwal North Young Stars and central defender Eric Mulomuwandu from Dolphins FC.

"Yes, it is true that we have signed these relatively unknown players but we have confidence in them," said Celtic public relations officer Sello Nduna yesterday.

"I just want to make it clear that our search for quality players is still on - we hope we will sign them during the off-season.

"We don't want to sign players for the sake of it."
