FORMER chairperson of the now-defunct SABC board Kanyi Mkonza says her team was unfairly tarred after it stepped on the toes of corrupt senior managers at the public broadcaster.

The SABC is asking the government for R2billion to bail it out of its financial woes, which Mkonza, pictured, blames on mismanagement. Parliament is expected to appoint an interim board this week to replace the current board, which has only one remaining member, Alison Gilwald, after 11 others resigned.

"No board has ever done what we achieved. Working under difficult conditions, we managed to expose the rot within the SABC," said Mkonza.
