SPEAKING at an emotional funeral service for six people who were killed in a collision involving a bus and truck outside Polokwane, Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale urged investigators to "speedily find the real cause of the accident".

The joint service was held in Mangata village in Botlokwa. The event, which was attended by more 10000 people, was filled with emotion as speaker after speaker slammed the manner in which the accident happened.

The ZCC-owned Bahwaduba Bus Services was ferrying people to work in Polokwane when the driver allegedly lost control and collided head-on with a Malawian truck on June 18.

Three people who were in the truck also died on the scene.

Those buried yesterday were Jack Ramaremela, Sontaga Mapasha, Solomon Rapakwana, Matome Machaka, Moruti Mashola and Selokela Makgato.

Speaking during the service Mathale said: "The cause of this accident must be speedily investigated so that we can know why it happened."

Apart from assisting with funeral costs, the bus company also offered 15 buses to transport mourners.
