ANGRY residents of Refilwe township in Cullinan, Gauteng, burnt down their municipality offices on Friday because the local government MEC had "kept postponing a response" to their memorandum.

The entire administration building and a bakkie were torched after MEC Kgaogelo Lekgoro was said to have failed on two occasions to report back on the memorandum submitted to him on June 4.

The memorandum was about a lack of service delivery and corruption.

A police spokesperson said the township "had been quiet" since the arson attack.
