Lucas Setlhoke, his wife Semetlha and their baby girl were killed in Saturday morning's collision, spokesman Matshube Mfoloe said in a statement.
The driver of the car in which the Setlhoke's were travelling, Benjamin Tinyane, also died.
Their car collided head-on with a bakkie on the Lichtenburg- Bessiesvlei road on Saturday. The male driver of the bakkie and his elderly female passenger are in a serious condition in a local hospital.
Paramedics battled for about an hour to free the bodies from the wreckage, Mfoloe said.
"The cause of the accident is being investigated."
He said it looked as if the driver of the bakkie had lost control of his vehicle.
North West transport MEC Mahlakeng Mahlakeng, who was at the scene of the accident, conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery. - Sapa
