Taxi froth

THE National Taxi Alliance has clearly lost touch with reality.

THE National Taxi Alliance has clearly lost touch with reality.

After years in the wilderness while the government-approved South African National Taxi Alliance took over the pre-eminent role in the fractious industry, the NTA now hopes to muscle its way back to the top.

But its bombastic, arrogant leaders have lost the plot.

Demanding that the government hand control of the proposed bus rapid transport schemes to its members because they had pioneered the routes defies logic and history.

They even claim the routes between townships and city centres are their "intellectual property", which the rapid bus service would appropriate.

We can only hope that the government gives short shrift to these buffoons and proceeds with its plans to implement fast, safe, comprehensive and affordable public transport for the benefit of all South Africans.
