Out of court settlement for school case

The case of a Moretele Primary School principal in Mamelodi, who is suing the treasurer of his school governing body for R100000, may be settled out of court.

Alex Ratlhogo claims Charles Mokoena had defamed him by influencing the SGB to believe that he had stolen 15 boxes of copy paper from the school.

The boxes went missing from the school office in 2006. Theft charges against Ratlhogo were subsequently laid in 2007.

However, the case was dismissed after three hearings in the Mamelodi magistrate's court.

According to the current chairperson of the SGB Sam Makgobathe, the district office called a meeting, and "it was decided that both parties withdraw charges against each other and that the matter be settled out of court". - McKeed Kotlolo
