FOUR South African Roadies Association (Sara) technicians are off to Denmark for two weeks.
They fly out tomorrow.
They will have on-the-job training and will be hosted by the famous Roskilde Festival as part of a technical skills enhancement project between the association and Roskilde Festival.
The lucky technicians are Nomzamo Mhlanga, 21, of Protea North, Soweto, Phindile Zwane, 23, of Boitumelo, Vanderbijlpark, Thabo Mathe, 21, of Hartebeesfontein, North West, and Mfanafuthi Njokweni, 25, of Tshiawelo, Soweto.
They earned their places through excelling in Sara's training programmes.
The highlight of their experience is the Roskilde Festival, which is one of Europe's largest music festivals, with seven stages and more than 175 bands performing for four days.
About 100000 people are expected to attend.
The technicians will have intensive working experience, enabling them to gain technical training from some of the best craftsmen in the world and to acquire top-notch skills in sound, lighting, staging and live production techniques.
This is a continuation of the programme that was started in 1999. A meeting in London between Roskilde Technical manager Paul Jansen and Sara president Freddie Nyathela sealed the beginning of the programme.
