FIVE Mpumalanga teachers have been kicked out of the profession after it was discovered that they faked their qualifications.

But there are still 45 more teachers in the province who are working with either fake or incomplete qualifications.

They are also expected to be dismissed soon.

The provincial education department said that their investigation, which started last year, shows that many teachers in the province used fraudulent certificates to get jobs.

Departmental spokesperson Jasper Zwane said: "From time to time we verify the qualifications of all our teachers and our system is so powerful that it can detect fraudulent ones."
