new format for matrics

MATRICULANTS will receive their certificates at the end of August owing to a change in format by the Department of Basic Education.

MATRICULANTS will receive their certificates at the end of August owing to a change in format by the Department of Basic Education.

The department has asked Umalusi to change the design to make the South African national coat of arms more prominent.

"Usually the matriculation certificates are printed within a week of receipt of the final results, which is normally before the end of May," a statement from Umalusi said.

"Delivery of the newly formatted certificate paper is expected by the middle of August and the printing of all National Senior Certificates is to be completed by no later than the end of August."

Umalusi CEO Mafu Rakometsi said: "I can assure you that I will give my best attention to ensure delivery of the certificates by the end of August."

Though the actual National Senior Certificate provides the final results of exams written by candidates, a statement of results issued at the beginning of the year to all candidates serves as proof of exam results.
