A BOOK by Nyaradzo Mtizira, Chimurenga Protocol, about Zimbabwe's controversial land issue, was launched recently.
The book argues that the land issue dates back to colonialism. It was published in Botswana by the Zimbabwean-born medic and is available in South Africa at Xarra Books in Newtown.
Mtizira writes that land was close to African people' s hearts long before Europeans colonised Zimbabwe and the rest of the continent.
"He argues that indigenous people always used land productively and farmed successfully.
Mtizira who was in South Africa recently to launch his book said: "When I researched the book and told many people, including friends what I know, I received mixed reactions.
"Some people strongly condemned me for justifying the seizure of land from white people. But others were encouraging because they wanted another perspective.
"I did a lot of research, going as far back as the 19th century."
The doctor-turned-writer said that this self-published book has been prescribed at Zimbabwean schools for matriculants.
"It is now a set book for matric history and English," Mtizira said.
"This is good news in that I fought so hard to publish the book with limited resources, sometimes living from hand to mouth."
He has also written four books on HIV and Aids.
Lethal Virus is about a young man whose risky lifestyle leads to his contracting HIV.
A Deadly Twist of Fate is about a young girl who receives a tainted blood transfusion and contracts the disease.
