Zacharia Ndlovu, 28, his brothers Jacob, 27, and Martin, 25, were convicted for the murder of Moses "Zoro" Nkoana, 23, on January 7 2006.
Nkoana, of Blood River village outside Seshego, was hunted down by the heavily-armed group, shot, severely assaulted, run over with a bakkie, loaded onto the back while still unconscious - and dumped about 25km away at Mamadila Dam in Moletji.
Nkoana had fathered a baby with Zacharia's girlfriend. Zacharia started his affair after Nkoana's relationship with the woman had ended.
In handing down the sentence on Wednesday, acting judge Khami Makhafola said there were no compelling or substantial circumstances that prevented him from handing down life sentences.
Makhafola said the crime was premeditated "because the killers had a common purpose in committing the murder".
He said with the already high number of murder cases in South Africa, the community looked to the courts to send out the message that "killers would be rooted out for good".
Before sentencing, the court also found that the trio, who had notorious reputations in the area, had several previous convictions. They had been found guilty of murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, housebreaking and robbery.
The three brothers were also found guilty of killing Joseph Mogale in Seshego two years ago while they were out on bail.
They were also convicted of the attempted murder of Mogale's brother.
They will be back in court for sentencing in the Mogale matter on July 14.
