Global fast-food group KFC announced an expansion project that will create up to 9000 jobs in South Africa.

The group said it would create up to 9000 jobs in South Africa through a R1,5billion investment in its estate by the KFC brand and its franchises.

"This will result in the group opening 200 to 300 new stores over three to five years.

"There are not many companies that can be so positive in this challenging environment. We are delighted to be able to announce this significant investment in South Africa," said KFC Africa managing director Keith Warren.

"A truly successful business should provide customers with what they want when the economy is booming, as well as when times are tougher."

The group said the new jobs would provide a range of opportunities for all ages and abilities, from cooks to managers. - I-Net Bridge
