Grunion are a type of sea fish found mostly along the coast of California in the US. They are famous for their unique spawning behaviour. They spawn completely out of the water and lay their eggs on California's sandy beaches. Shortly after high tide, on specific nights, sections of the beaches are covered with thousands of grunion dancing on the sand. Grunion runs have become so popular that sometimes there are more people lining the beaches than grunion in the run.
