AT A TIME when all eyes are on the Confederations Cup, e.tv has introduced a new soccer reality show, Shield No Sweat Golden Goal.

The show, to be presented by the outgoing Fezile Makhanya of 2010 Countdown, starts tonight at 9.30pm.

The family soccer show promises to bring more fun and entertainment to television.

"It is a family sports game show where two teams play on the dome for 60 minutes. The game starts with regional play-offs, followed by regional finals. The regional winners will battle it out in the national finals for the big prize. The show features six regions. Basically, the show is about teamwork, skill, confidence and, most importantly, fun," said Makhanya.

The game show features two teams in the dome, with four on the bench. As soon as a goal is scored, the clock stops and the losers are replaced with a new team. Teams keep rotating for 60 minutes.

Makhanya is no stranger to local television. He started by appearing in the Ricoffy advert and then as Channel O DJ.

He has appeared in various TV shows including Backstage, Jozi Streets, Zone 14,Generations and Gaz'lam.

Makhanya was also SABC1 brand ambassador from 2006 to last year.

"I got into TV not because I wanted fame but I needed pocket money while studying. However, I realised I was talented and now I am enjoying it," he said.

Makhanya is also a final-year financial risk managementstudent at the University of SA.
