Zim needs R16bn for jobs

Zimbabwe needs more than $2billion (about R16 billion) to initially kick-start job creation and construction in its shattered economy, according to the country's public works minister.

"I think (we initially need) upwards of $2 billion, because we are looking at construction of roads, dams and those kind of things, which take up a lot of money," minister Theresa Makone said yesterday on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum's Africa meeting in Cape Town. - Reuters
