FANS of the popular daily TV drama Isidingo will soon have a presidential dose of soap opera through the acting skills of President Jacob Zuma's daughter Gugulethu.

Gugu, as she is known to friends, will start appearing from July 31, playing the character of a young achiever.

She is old man Moloi's (Stephen Mofokeng) daughter, a future love interest for Vusi (Meshack Mavuso) - but with a Cinderella twist.

We could not speak to her yesterday because of her tight shooting schedule in the SABC3 series that shows at 6.30pm daily.

According to her agent there has been a barrage of media interest since news broke this week that the daughter of the president will appear in the soapie.

"There has been a lot of interest from the media and we were caught by surprise since we had not even prepared her personal biography," Alicia Peters told Sowetan yesterday.

She plays Lesedi Moloi, a young woman who grew up in worker's quarters on the Le Roux farm in the vicinity of the Deep. Old man Moloi has worked in the stables for Braam all his life.

She and Sofia were at junior school together, but Sofia left to go to a posh high school in Bloemfontein, while Lesidi gets an offer to study overseas.

This is Gugu's second stint on the small screen. Last year she was in Interrogation Room on SABC1, playing Sergeant Mini Bhelu.
