Frantic fight to qualify for World Cup

This has been a hectic week for nations that still have a chance to qualify for the 2010 Fifa World Cup to be hosted by South Africa.

Europe and Asia have already produced their first crop of national teams heading for our shores. African countries are still involved in serious qualifying games.

Highlights of some qualifying games will be on SABC1 tomorrow between 2pm and 4.45pm.

Nigeria's Super Eagles beat the Harambee Stars of Kenya 3-0 at home while Mali found it tough going when they lost 0-2 away to Ghana. The third World Cup qualifying game on the show is Zambia's narrow 1-0 victory over Rwanda. In international friendlies, Malawi brushed aside Rwanda with a 2-0 pasting and Tanzania produced a shock 2-1 win over Confederation Cup's Oceania champions New Zealand.
