Eskom must explain 34percent hike

IT is acceptable for Eskom to ask for a 34percent tariff increase but I think it is more important that the electricity provider explain to South Africans why it wants to do so in these critical economic times.

My suggestion is that Eskom should make its income and expenditure statement public.

The statement must include the income Eskom gets from our neighbours Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia - who all receive electricity from the electricity provider - the salaries and all the other benefits of all Eskom's big bosses .

If Eskom has nothing to hide it will make these statements available to the public.

I believe a 34percent hike will not be necessary.

If neighboring countries do not pay their bills their power should be cut and if Eskom is not prepared to do that, we South Africans must do the right thing because it is time to join hands and make this a better country for all its citizens, not just the politicians.
