YOU'VE got to hand it to the fake Zola 7s scouring the townships for victims.

YOU'VE got to hand it to the fake Zola 7s scouring the townships for victims.

Who would have believed that folks so desperate for material assistance that they rely on a TV star to get them help for good causes would constitute a market for conmen?

But the hustlers have been intercepting e-mails to the kwaito star's show on SABC1 and conning supplicants out of thousands of rands for "administration fees".

The real Zola 7's sponsored philanthropical initiative doesn't charge a red cent for its services. But some folks are so desperate that they fall for any line peddled by hucksters.

Police are investigating at least three fakes who purported to represent the show and filched R14000 from a victim.

No matter how noble your purpose, the vultures out there will separate you from your cash in the blink of an eye.
