THE International Boxing Federation has ordered a rematch between South African Moruti Mthalane and Filipino Nonito Donaire for the IBF flyweight title.

THE International Boxing Federation has ordered a rematch between South African Moruti Mthalane and Filipino Nonito Donaire for the IBF flyweight title.

In a letter addressed to the promoters of the two fighters, the IBF said the rematch should take place before August 1.

Mthalane and Donaire clashed in Las Vegas on November 1 last year with Donaire winning via a sixth round stoppage due to a cut sustained by Mthalane.

Due to the unsatisfactory manner in which the fight was stopped, Mthalane remained in the top spot of the IBF ratings.

Mthalane's promoter, Branco Milenkovic, was ecstatic about the IBF's decision.

"Mthalane lost controversially to Donaire, so it is proper he gets another chance," he said. - Sapa
