CONFEDERATIONS Cup mania has arrived on our shores with a big bang - with New Zealand, Iraq, Italy and the US already in the country.

CONFEDERATIONS Cup mania has arrived on our shores with a big bang - with New Zealand, Iraq, Italy and the US already in the country.

New Zealand's All Whites landed two weeks ago and went to play in Dar es Salaam against Tanzania, who handed them a free soccer lesson, winning the game 2-1 last Wednesday.

On Saturday, they were in Gaborone for a friendly against Botswana's Zebras where the two sides failed to score after 90 minutes regulation time.

"We are extremely happy that everybody in South Africa and neighbouring countries is now talking about the Confederations Cup," said Rich Mkhondo, the LOC's spokesperson.

Italy, making their debut in this tournament, arrived on Monday and the US yesterday. European champions Ferrrando Torres-led Spain land today.

Spain and Italy have agreed to play a friendly game at Super Stadium in Atteridgeville today as part of their final preparations for the "Festival of Champions". South American football kings Brazil, with superstar Kaka, and the Mohamed Aboutrika-led multiple African champions Egypt, land tomorrow.

Mkhondo urged everyone in the country to attend public training sessions of the participating countries this week.

Tomorrow, Spain will train at Olympia Park in Rustenburg at 10.30am, and the US at Pilditch Stadium in Tshwane at 4pm.

On Friday, the Steven Pienaar-led Bafana Bafana will practise at Orlando Stadium at 10am, and Brazil will be at Seisa Ramabodu Stadium in Mangaung at 4.15pm.

Still on Friday, Italy will train at Super Stadium in Atteridgeville at 4.30pm, Iraq at Ruimsig Stadium in Roodepoort at 4pm and New Zealand at Moruleng Stadium in Rustenburg at 4.30pm.

The Pharaohs of Egypt can be seen at Shimla Park in Mangaung on Saturday at 10.30am.
