TV search for comics starts again

THE search for the funniest person has started again.

THE search for the funniest person has started again.

SABC1 and Fanta have again teamed up to search for that special person with a unique talent to make us all laugh.

So You Think You Are Funny, the television comedy reality show that tickled funny bones last year, was so popular that a second show is in the offing.

One talented comedian will win R100000 and an opportunity to work with established comedian David Kau. Contestants can do anything from stand-up comedy, ventriloquism, singing, dancing and magic tricks.

Judges include David Kau, actress Moshidi Motshegwa and Ntobeko "Ntosh" Madlingozi.

SABC1 publicity manager Vukile Madlala says: "We are excited by the prospect of hosting another 13 weeks of a thrilling comedy series. The first season brought a very positive response from our audiences and we are looking forward to an even bigger response with season 2."

Auditions start on June 26 at Sisulu Square in Kliptown. On June 27 the judges will be at Atlas Studios in Johannesburg, on June 30 at Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane, and on July 3 at Bat Centre in Durban. They will wrap up the auditions in Cape Town's Good Hope Centre on July 7.

The show, which had the whole country in stitches during its first season, will again bring much-needed laughter to the country.

The show gives South Africans a platform to display their comic talents.

"As Fanta, we would like to take the lead in the business of encouraging people to play and to have fun," says the company's senior brand manager, Nthabiseng Motsoeneng.

Auditions begin at 9am and continue until 5pm.
