Chiefs sign 'Cosmos player'

A LEGAL battle is looming between Kaizer Chiefs and Jomo Cosmos after Amakhosi announced in their website yesterday that they have signed talented Dynamos' right-back Tshifhiwa Mmboi.

A LEGAL battle is looming between Kaizer Chiefs and Jomo Cosmos after Amakhosi announced in their website yesterday that they have signed talented Dynamos' right-back Tshifhiwa Mmboi.

The acquisition of Mmboi by Amakhosi came despite the fact that the player was paraded by Ezenkosi last month as their new recruit.

Cosmos' boss Jomo Sono insists that Mmboi has registered with the Absa Premiership returnees.

Chiefs, on the other hand, have been refusing to shed light on whether Mmboi was heading to Naturena until their confirmation yesterday.

"We have finalised an outright purchase of the player with Dynamos FC. He is a young and talented right-back who we are confident will fit in our plans for the next season," said Chiefs manager Bobby Motaung.

Malabela could not be reached for comment last night.

Motaung also revealed the acquisition of young Zimbabwean attacker Knowledge Musona.

The 19-year-old, who was born in Chegutu, played for Aces Youth Academy of Zimbabwe from the age of 14. He also had a short stint at development side FC Lugano in Switzerland. He has signed a three-season deal at Chiefs.

"Knowledge is in our view a young and prolific striker who given a chance, can prove his worth in any reputable side. He is a much-needed reinforcement in our striking force," Motaung said.

Chiefs, on the other hand, have lost the services of defender Jonathan Quartey to SASP Olympique Gymnaste Club De Nice Côte d'Azur of France.

Motaung has promised the Chiefs faithfuls that further announcements on player movements in Naturena will be made at a later stage.
