THE Nedlac social partners and the Presidency will have to come up with ways to raise an estimated R10billion to fund the National Jobs Initiative.

The initiative is part of the National Framework for SA's Response to the International Economic Crisis. Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies yesterday said: "The framework is aimed at repackaging and arranging programmes aimed at preserving jobs. This will be done by the government and the agents of government."

The framework, which is under the custodianship of Nedlac, will be instrumental in increasing the impact of the jobs initiative, to create about 500000 job opportunities by December. - Kea' Modimoeng
