Sipho now a Clever midfielder

BIDVEST Wits have signed Ivorian striker N'da Jacques Yoboue from FC AK and midfielder Sipho Mngomezulu from Maritzburg United to prepare for the upcoming Absa Premiership season.

Wits' manager George "Soekkies" Mogotsi yesterday said they were still searching for more quality players.

"We are excited to have acquired players like Yoboue and Mngomezulu. We performed fairly well last season and we now want to compete for silverware," Mogotsi said.

Mngomezulu and Yoboue have signed for two seasons with an option to renew the contracts.

The Clever Boys, who will play in the MTN8 competition next season after finishing sixth on the log during 2008-09.

Mogotsi also revealed that they will promote three youngsters from their Big Boys FC, their development side that campaigns in the Vodacom Promotional League.

The long-serving Wits' administrator said defender Byrone Hendricks, whose contract with the team expired at the end of this month, has been released to the 2009 Nedbank Cup kings Moroka Swallows.

He says they will off-loading another five players before the start of the new season.

"But I would not release their names at this stage," he said.

The Clever Boys begin their pre-season camp on June 17.
