Big Brother Africa 2009 will be back on our television screens when the new season takes off in September.
To get the process started, M-Net has begun calling for entries for the new season. And in line with its re-energised identity, the new Big Brother will include - for the first time - open castings sessions in the 14 participating countries.
While the US$100000 seemed like a lot of money, M-Net has this year upped the stakes. The winner will walk away with a US$200000 (R1,6million).
In addition, the old rules banning conspiracy in the house have been lifted and contestants will be free to forge alliances and discuss strategies.
This year, audiences will be asked to vote for the housemates they want to see remain in the series rather than the housemates they want to see leave the house.
Participants - aged over 21 - from Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe are free to enter. This year the net has been cast wider to include Mozambique and Ethiopia.
