The mayor of Makhudu-Thamaga municipality in Jane Furse, Limpopo, is making waves following allegations that she uses the mayoral car without authorisation.
At the centre of the row are allegations that mayor Queen Mokhabela has been driving around in the mayoral car, a Mercedes Benz 250, though she is supposed to be driven.
Sowetan has learnt that a special ANC caucus meeting at the municipal chambers on Sunday allegedly resolved to take action against Mokhabela if she did not stop driving the car herself.
The reason she drives herself is that she does not have a chauffeur.
The person who had been driving her was redeployed after he was found guilty of stealing petrol meant for municipality vehicles.
The post was later advertised but not filled.
Efforts to reach Mokhabela to get a comment drew a blank yesterday.
