SOWETAN Thabang Moeketsane plans to use the More Nostrum swimming series to start his build-up for the 2012 London Olympics preparations.

Moeketsane, who is the first black South African swimmer to compete at international level, was yesterday included in two of the three legs.

He is hoping to do well in the two competitions in Barcelona, Spain, on July 6 and 7 as well as Canet, France, from June 9 and 11.

"It's an honour to be selected to represent your country. I'm looking forward to doing well in the two competitions in Barcelona and Canet," said Moeketsane.

"The training competition in Europe will help me prepare for the World Championships in Rome late next month. For me, the bigger picture is the 2012 London Olympics."

National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund has contributed R24million into Swimming South Africa's projects for the next three years.

Shaun Adriaanse, Swimming South Africa chief executive officer, said the donation will help in the development of the sport in this country.
