Pam takes break to record album

FANS of Gail October in e.tv's soapie Rhythm City will have to do without their favourite star for more than a month.

FANS of Gail October in e.tv's soapie Rhythm City will have to do without their favourite star for more than a month.

Gail, played by the sexy and sensual Pamela Andrews, is taking a break from July 3 to August 6. The off-screen break will allow Andrews to record her long-awaited second album. Her first - Here we go - was released in 2005.

Yesterday, Andrews dismissed speculation that she was leaving the soapie for good. She said she was taking a break to focus on her music.

"I have put my music career on hold to focus on my life and acting. I'm coming back with a new look, new style and new album soon. I have been quiet for a long time."

In the soapie, Gail is currently flirting with Smokey, played by Craig Palm, and trying to make her business partner Sbu (Lungile Radu) jealous.

Andrews, who got married to French engineer Cedric Thivlin last year, revealed that she was taking another break in September to wed in France.

"I wanted to lie low and stop going to many parties. I'm getting into shape by doing karate and lots of jogging to look good on my wedding day.

"I can't wait to see the coloureds and French people in one room."

She returns to Rhythm City on August 6 when she will shock many after a brief stint in Los Angeles.

Born on the Cape Flats in 1984, Andrews was part of the Coca-Cola Pop Stars group 101. She left the group in 2003 to pursue her acting career.
