The league's national secretary, Buti Manamela, who is now an ANC MP and YCL chairperson David Masondo say judges should be subjected to Idols-type public voting because "they can make laws with their judgments".
As a representative of the ruling party Manamela must know that his statements reflect on the ANC. Earlier this year he accused "some of the judges" of thinking that they "descended from heaven".
For as long as the Manamelas of this world repeat this kind of backward views about a pillar of state without being censured, the ANC has nobody but itself to blame for the repeated concerns for the future of the judiciary under the current administration.
