Snub white areas, Malema tells govt

ANC Youth League president Julius Malema has called on the government to concentrate its service delivery programmes on townships and rural areas and not the suburbs "because those whites [in suburbs] still vote for the white parties".

ANC Youth League president Julius Malema has called on the government to concentrate its service delivery programmes on townships and rural areas and not the suburbs "because those whites [in suburbs] still vote for the white parties".

"We are saying to the ANC, whether you like it or not, you are voted for by the working class people in the townships and rural areas.

"You don't have to concentrate on the suburbs because we don't get our votes there ."

Malema, who was speaking during the launch of the ANCYL programme for Youth Month at the Hector Pieterson Memorial Museum in Soweto, also called on the government to prioritise ANC volunteers who campaigned during the April 22 elections. He said ministers tend to forget volunteers who led door-to-door campaigns in the townships.
