BARLOWORLD has once again renewed its commitment to South Africa's arts and culture community.

The company has donated R200 000 to the Barloworld Artworks programme for 2009-2010.

This latest contribution brings to almost R1million into business skills mentorship over five years. It demonstrates the company's belief in the art sector's ability to generate jobs and contribute to tourism.

Barloworld Artworks is run in association with Business and Arts South Africa.

Since the inception of the sponsorship in August 2005, the mentoring programme has seen close to 50 dedicated mentors contribute their time and expertise to various arts projects.

Currently there are 31 individuals who are actively mentoring various arts organisations in the four provinces.

The winner of the best mentoring work for 2008 will be revealed and honoured in Johannesburg at the 12th Business Day -Basa Awards on August 31.
