The country is facing other economic problems apart from the recession. On Wednesday the price of petrol will go up by 16 cents a litre. Eskom has also asked for a 34percent rise.
"We will definitely discuss plans on how we and our allies can help workers," said Cosatu's Patrick Craven.
The meeting will, among other things, review the recent election; discuss how Cosatu can help the new administration deliver on its promises; the taxi industry; the proposed bus rapid transit system in big cities and the SABC board.
The meeting ends tomorrow.
