It was sweet revenge for Amajita after they were beaten by the same margin on penalties in Ghana during the African Youth Championships semifinals in Rwanda in March.
The South African under-20s are back home today before heading for Uruguay on Wednesday.
Mphahlele said: "It was a well-deserved win and great way to start our final preparations for the World Youth Championships in Egypt in September.
"Ghana have also qualified for the Egypt tournament. We are now looking forward to the trip to South America for the two games against Uruguay."
In the absence of coach Serame Letsoaka, who was attending the Confederation of African Football Licence C coaching course, which is the first such course, in Seychelles as an assessor, his deputy Masqood Chenia was in charge of the technical team.
Letsoaka will reunite with the team today when they they start their preparations for the trip to Uruguay where they will play on June 7 and 9.
"The report I received from Ghana is that things went according to plan, the most exciting thing is that our boys have an appetite for goals," said Letsoaka.
The team will be back on June 11 to watch the Confederations Cup where Letsoaka will also serve as a spy for Bafana Bafana.
