FIVE young soccer lovers from KwaZulu-Natal will rub shoulders with soccer's top guns when they escort players onto the field in next month's Confederations Cup semifinal at Ellis Park in Johannesburg on June 25.

They were chosen from thousands of youngsters who entered the competition to become escorts for teams.

The five winners, aged between 8 and 10, were thrilled at the prospect of touching the hands of their soccer heroes.

Sihle Kubheka, 9, of KwaMashu said he could not wait for the big day.

"I never thought I would get the chance to see my favourite player, Teko Modise, in action," he said.

Sunay Rajhoonundan, 9, a Kaizer Chiefs supporter, felt honoured by her selection.

"I was chosen because I wrote a letter about my father's love for soccer. I am very happy," she said.
