FIVE people were killed and 11 others critically injured when their minibus taxi overturned in Peddie, Eastern Cape.

FIVE people were killed and 11 others critically injured when their minibus taxi overturned in Peddie, Eastern Cape.

Police said yesterday that the taxi was travelling from Port Elizabeth to Mthatha when the accident occurred on Wednesday night.

Constable Thomas Mayoli said: "As the taxi overturned and rolled people were thrown out through windows. Four passengers died on the scene and the fifth on the way to hospital."

The injured, including the driver, are being treated at Nompumelelo Hospital. - Sapa
