EASTERN CAPE boxing trainer Dudu Bungu is a broken man because Zolani Tete, the boxer Bungu claims to have taken from obscurity to the WBF title, has left him.

Tete, known as "Last Born" because he was the youngest boxer at the Eyethu Boxing Gym of promoter Mzimase Mnguni in Mdantsane, has joined Nick Durandt in Gauteng.

Tete, 20, is a special fighter who has become a knockout artist with 10 knockouts from 11 wins.

The left-hander holds the WBF flyweight belt.

His promising career was guided by Mnguni through SuperSport. Their contract ended last month.

Tete has now joined the Branco Sports Production stable of promoters Branco Milenkovic and Jacob Matlala.

These two associates work exclusively with SABC. Tete was paraded as an SABC fighter at Auckland Park on Tuesday.

Bungu said he had regarded rumours of Tete's defection to Durandt as mere gossip until he saw Tete lead one of Durandt's other fighters, Macbute Sinyabi, to the ring at Nasrec on Sunday.

He said he felt an excruciating pain as if his heart had been cut with a razor-sharp blade.

Bungu was there with his other fighter, Samkelo Fani, who was outpointed by Takalani Dandale over six rounds in the lightweight division.

Sinyabi, another Mdantsane fighter who left Mnguni's establishment last year for Durandt, defended his SA junior featherweight belt in less than two minutes against Desmond Samuels in the main fight.
