ORGANISERS of the Platinum Football Tournament have teamed up with Royal Bafokeng Sports to use the event to mobilise support for the Confederations Cup.

The tournament, which is the brainchild of top North West sports administrator Innocent Sirovha, started two weeks ago with 48 clubs taking part.

It reaches its climax this weekend with the quarterfinals, semifinals and final at Wonderkop Stadium in Wonderkop, near Marikana.

"This is one of the biggest soccer tournaments in the country, we usually have more than 10 000 people coming to watch our games daily," said Sirovha yesterday.

"It was for this reason that we have decided to work closely with Royal Bafokeng and the Rustenburg 2010 World Cup office in promoting the Confederations Cup.

"We are happy that Royal Bafokeng have bought into the idea. They have also contributed R50000."

MP3 from Klipgat are chasing a third successive title.
