I'm not surprised that the students who are bunking classes are black. These are the same students who will be blaming the authorities for their failures come year end.

My question is why can't Cosas, the YCL or the ANCYL step in and talk to these youngsters, who seem to have lost interest in life? These are youth formations and should be able to come up with the means of empowering these youngsters without allowing them to shift the blame of being irresponsible from themselves.

Many parents still believe they are giving their kids a better education by sending them to suburb and CBD schools, but it seems that with the "better education" comes drug addiction, alcoholism, unsafe sex and a host of other bad behaviour that these youngsters inherit.

The poor parents sacrifice a lot only to see these youngsters throwing it away by riding on the roof of trains and getting arrested for shoplifting.

The government should be looking at a solution as well. Why must township parents send their kids to suburbian schools when some of the teachers, who come from the townships, teach at these suburb schools. Why not make it a priority that teacher pupil ratio comes down to 50/1 in township schools and provide equipment.
