MPUMALANGA'S culture department celebrates Africa Day today.

A feast of various African cultures will be held in song and dance in Barberton as a way of promoting unity and solidarity in Africa.

"This year's celebrations will bring an exciting variety of continental talent," said department spokesperson Sammy Mpatlanyane.

Africa Day marks the establishment of the Organisation of African Unity (now known as the African Union) on May 25 1963. The OAU promoted unity among independent nations on the continent and also supported its liberation movements.

Culture, sport and recreation MEC Vusi Shongwe will deliver a keynote address at the event.
