Rea Vaya will be good for commuters

The Rea Vaya Bus Rapid Transit project seems to be a positive development that will benefit multitudes of commuters.

Hopefully, it will provide options to commuters and add value to the ailing public transport services.

The resistance by taxi operators to the project appears to be self-serving. The industry has been operating for decades but it has done nothing to develop the country's transport system.

Democratic South Africa should have the interests of the majority at heart and thus its responsibility is to its citizens enjoying improved services.

Change is hard to accept but things should not stay the same.

South Africa's transport system did not start with taxis and should not end with them.

Fair competition is necessary.
