End Metrobus strike now

Okay we get it. Metrobus drivers and employees are unhappy with the salaries that they are being paid.

Okay we get it. Metrobus drivers and employees are unhappy with the salaries that they are being paid.

But do they realise that they are doing long-term damage to their employment prospects?

Metrobus isn't a wholly council-sponsored company.

It is only partially subsidised and the rest of the money that drivers and employees get comes from normal operations. In other words, part of the money they get every month comes from the people you are happily abusing with this continued and short-sighted strike.

It is enough now. All the striking employees need to take a long-term view and decide appropriately.

Every day they continue to strike means that there is less money in the pot to pay their salaries, improve services and to buy equipment.

This means that they are bankrupting their employer, which in turn means fewer jobs down the line.

Realise that everyone is getting hurt during this action, not just management or the City of Joburg, but the commuter and our economy.

It is time to be reasonable.
